Spring Festival (Basanta Utsav)

Basanta Utsav at NRITYAM – Welcoming Spring & a New Academic Journey

NRITYAM joyously celebrates Basanta Utsav, marking not only the arrival of the vibrant spring season but also the auspicious beginning of a new academic calendar. This celebration is a heartfelt tribute to renewal, creativity, and the eternal rhythm of nature—values deeply embedded in Indian art and culture.

With the advent of spring, our students adorn themselves in colourful attire inspired by the Santiniketan tradition, echoing the spirit of harmony, simplicity, and aesthetic elegance envisioned by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. The atmosphere comes alive with youthful energy, blossoming smiles, and the fragrance of festivity.

In the early hours of the morning, students of NRITYAM participate in a graceful procession through the streets of New Town, dancing to the soulful tunes of Rabindrasangeet. Their movements, set against the serenity of dawn, create a living canvas of rhythm, colour, and devotion—celebrating spring as a metaphor for hope, growth, and new beginnings.

This cultural celebration coincides with Dol Utsav, adding a deeper layer of joy and unity. Through dance and music, students imbibe the essence of togetherness, tradition, and artistic expression, reinforcing NRITYAM’s commitment to holistic learning beyond the classroom.

Basanta Utsav at NRITYAM is not merely a festival—it is a celebration of life, learning, and the eternal bond between art and nature, ushering in a year filled with creativity, discipline, and artistic exploration.
